Where are the Yaa Halla, Y'all workshops and shows held?

Registration

How do I register for a workshop?

If I don't want to register online, is there another way to register for a workshop?
Yes!  You can register online, by phone, mail or fax.  Click here for information on alternative registration options for Dance Workshops or click here for information on alternative registration options for Drum Workshops.

Are there any discounts for workshops?
We have "early bird" prices for anyone registering by June 1, 2012.  On June 2, 2012, the prices for all workshops will increase to full price.

Can I pay for my registration via bank-to-bank transfer?
No, we are not set up for bank-to-bank transfers at this time.  You may pay for your seminars on our website (guaranteed secure transaction), or, you can mail us your registration form with a check, credit card information, or an international money order.

Workshops

What workshops are being offered this year?

What do I need to bring for the workshops?
As we get more information from the instructors about what they will be teaching, we will list the workshop descriptions and any props you need to bring with you.  Click here for workshop descriptions and props needed.  If the information you are looking for isn't listed, keep checking back - we're updating the website as quickly as we can!

Which workshops can be taken individually?
The Galaxy Seminars and the Dancing with Zills to Live Drums for Drummers and Dancers workshop may be taken individually.  You can also register for full day Galaxy Seminar packages.  Drum Workshops can also be taken individually or as a Full Weekend Drum Package (includes 2 shows and Dancing w/ Zills for Drummers & Dancers workshop).

Is there and age limit for the Drum Workshops?
There is not an age limit on the Drum Workshops.  However,   the Advanced workshops are for those who already have some experience in drumming.  Younger students should probably  take the Beginner/Intermediate Workshops to get acquainted with the Instructor and then decide if they also are qualified to take the Advanced Workshop.  This is just a suggestion for parents to consider when signing up their children for Drum Workshops.

Shows

I have someone coming with me for the weekend who will not be attending the workshops.  They would still like to attend the nightly shows.  What is the price for attending only the shows?
Everyone is invited to attend the nightly performances (Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday).  The public is also invited to shop with our fabulous vendors.  Click here for ticket information for shows and shopping.

No, there are no certificates of completion for any Yaa Halla, Y'all workshop.

Who can enter the Yellow Rose of Texas Belly Dance Competition?
Anyone can compete in the Yellow Rose of Texas Belly Dance Competition. Those under the
age of 18 must have parental consent.  All competing performers must be registered in ONE FULL DAY of workshops for each category of competition.

Is there an entry fee?
There is no "entry" fee. 
All Yaa Halla, Y'all 2012 participants who are registered in one FULL day of Dance Workshops per Category of competition and all accompanying or competing musicians registered in two (2) workshops (drum or zills rhythm) per category are invited to be contestants in The Yellow Rose of Texas Belly Dance Competition.  All competing performers must have their seminar and performer registrations to us by July 1, 2012.

Can I compete in the same category that I danced in last year?
First place winners of any category in the previous year may not compete in the same category this year.  However, if you placed second or third in any category, you may compete in the same category this year.

What are the competition categories and when is the competition?

Yellow Rose of Texas Belly Dance Competition, which includes a list of categories and the days of competition.  The 2012 Yaa Halla, Y'all Yellow Rose of Texas Dance Competition will be held on Thursday and Friday nights only.  The NEW Drum Group Competition will be held on Saturday.  All Winners in each Dance category will be recognized and will perform in the Saturday night Yellow Rose of Texas Showcase of Winners.

How big is the stage we will be performing on?
The Stage Size is: 25’ deep x 30’ wide - Auditorium Stage - with one entrance at the back corner OR two sets of steps at the front sides of the stage

If I am competing on Thursday night, do I have to take the full day Thursday workshop?
No, you are not required to take a full day workshop on the same day as your competition performance.  However, you are required to take one full day workshop for each night of competition

My troupe wants to compete in the Yellow Rose of Texas Belly Dance Competition.  Do all the members of my troupe have to send their workshop registrations in at the same time?
That would be preferable; however, if they are sent individually, be aware that we must receive the Performance Registration for your troupe and all workshop registrations from all troupe members
by July 1, 2012.

For our troupe to perform, how many people need to register for workshops?
All members of your troupe who will be performing must be registered for a full day of workshops per night of competition

Performance (Non-competing)

If I do not wish to compete in the Yellow Rose of Texas Belly Dance Competition, may I still perform at Yaa Halla, Y'all 2012?
Yes!  If you or your troupe do not wish to compete in the Yellow Rose of Texas Belly Dance Competition, performance times are available in Sunday night’s show.
 (If you are registered in a dance, drum, or zills workshop, you are invited to perform as a non-competing performer)  Please be aware that we must receive your Performance Registration and all workshop registrations by July 1, 2012.
