Petite Jamilla

Petite Jamilla has been a member of Bellydance Superstars since the first BDSS winter tour in January of 2004.  She was discovered by Miles Copeland when she performed as the guest dancer for the southern leg of their previous tour, dancing in both Birmingham, Alabama and Pensacola, Florida with the company.

As the youngest member of the tour, Petite Jamilla performs the Double Veil, showcasing Sufi-like Trance Spinning with modern Rai and Arab Rap music for a unique blend.  Petite Jamilla is also a musician, crossing cultures and, during the BDSS 2004 tour, combined Highland Sword and Fling dancing with Bellydance while playing the Scottish bagpipes, merging belly dance with traditional Scottish sword dance. She has traveled and taught countless workshops around the world.  She is known for her innovative style of belly dance, and in the words of Miles Copeland, "Petite Jamilla's talent is indefinable and unstoppable."

Taught by her mother Jamilla Rasa, Petite Jamilla has been dancing since age 4, and has won numerous talent contests throughout her life for her belly dance. Breaking all the rules, she has competed with belly dance in contests that normally would not allow this dance, such as preliminaries for Miss Alabama, and has won talent awards every time!
